Today the Diamond Dealers Club (DDC) of New York, in conjunction with the Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC), greeted close to 100 exhibitors at its first India Diamond Week on the DDC’s trading floor in Manhattan. DDC's president, Reuven Kaufman, is creating a renaissance of the diamond trading floors by welcoming diamantaires from India, the manufacturing center of the diamond industry, for the first time to experience and trade at the largest bourse in the U.S.

“We see this as a tremendous opportunity for India, a pillar of the diamond manufacturing sector, to collaborate on our trade floor, to build relationships and generate business success for our industry,” said Kaufman. “This is our third international show in a year.  I’m very excited to watch our trade floor come alive again and watch deals happen in real time.”

The event aims at increasing communication between diamantaires and promoting business globally. The DDC anticipates tens of millions of dollars worth of goods trading at this show alone.

India Diamond Week at the DDC will be held through August 14 at the DDC’s headquarters in the heart of the diamond district at 580 Fifth Avenue and 47th Street in New York. I am pleased to announce that registration has opened for the upcoming US & International Diamond Week in Israel. This event, which will run from April 6, 2014 through April 10, 2014, will again give our members the opportunity to buy and sell goods on the Israel Diamond Exchange trading floor and to create connections with bourse members from around the world.

The IDE plans to build on the success of our prior events by inviting even more international buyers to the show. To date, there are already 300 buyers registered for the event in only a few short days since the launch of the registration form.  As a result of the strong relationship that we have created with IDE, our members will be the only foreign participants with the right to sell goods on the IDE's trading floor during this event.

The New York Diamond Dealers Club (DDC) president, Reuven Kaufman, announced that for the first time a delegation of some of the Club’s prominent members will exhibit in a special DDC Pavilion at the Hong Kong International Diamond Show. 

Kaufman indicated that participation in the prestigious show, organized by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, was part of an overall commitment by DDC to open new markets for its members by encouraging them to pursue trade throughout the world.  Participation in the Hong Kong Show, which as a trading hub for our industry plays a crucial role in the diamond business, is the latest manifestation of this initiative and follows DDC organized trade delegations in such venues as Dubai and Israel as well as one scheduled for Basel in a few weeks.

Kaufman said that Club members were unanimously enthusiastic about the DDC opening new trade opportunities for them.  He also noted that DDC leadership was involved in planning for new trade initiatives in other countries as well as working on a multi-bourse diamond week that would be convened at the DDC within the year.

Kaufman encouraged attendees at the Hong Kong Show to visit the DDC Pavilion in Hall 9 at the airport.  He expressed confidence that “visitors to the DDC Pavilion will be impressed at the unusually wide range of goods available to them at extremely competitive prices.”

Opening its doors on March 27, at Basel’s Markthalle in Viaduktstrasse, the show will provide an opportunity for retailers, jewelers, designers, dealers and watch makers to source their diamonds and diamond jewelry from the best manufacturers around the world.  

A large contingent of U.S. diamond manufacturers will be exhibiting top-quality diamonds in a pavilion organized by the Diamond Dealer’s Club of New York. “New York specializes in the finest quality of large diamonds and fancy color diamonds.
